The Patient Safety Task Force

The Healthcare Association of Hawaii's mission is to represent and advocate on behalf of its acute care, acute rehabilitation, skilled and intermediate nursing and assisted living providers, home care and hospice members to improve health care in Hawaii. The association does this by providing a forum for members to come together in their mutual desire for quality and cost effective health care. It provides the leadership necessary to assist the health care industry to plan strategically for the future through efforts that shall initiate or assist in the shaping of health policy or shall result in the improved organization and/or delivery of health care.

In keeping with the Healthcare Association's mission, the Patient Safety Task Force's (PSTF) mission is to bring member representatives together, in an open and blame free environment, to hold frank and full discussions about issues affecting patient safety in order to improve the quality of care delivered to those whom we serve. The PSTF believes that by identifying, analyzing and evaluating factors that affect the optimal delivery of care, best practices can be identified and recommended to organizations for possible implementation or adaptation within their particular environment. The Task Force believes that consistent utilization of best practices within the complex systems that comprise the organization and delivery of health care in this nation will result in fewer medical errors and improved patient care and outcomes.
