Ethics As It Relates to Patient Care and AI Integration

Course Description

As AI becomes woven into diagnosis, care delivery, and hospital operations, healthcare organizations face new ethical challenges. This education event examines how leaders in healthcare organizations can guide responsible AI adoption—promoting transparency, protecting patient data, reducing bias, and ensuring technology supports clinicians, operations, and ultimately the patients and communities that our organizations serve.

Join us for an educational session and panel discussion to explore explore practical considerations and strategies for building an ethical framework around AI that strengthens trust, supports staff, and keeps patient wellbeing at the center of innovation.


Speakers

 

Dr. Amy Summerville is a leading expert on the interaction of emotion, cognition, and motivation in human decision-making and performance. She is a Principal Research Scientist at Kairos Research, where she has led numerous projects, including as the Assessment Lead for a team on DARPA's In The Moment program led by RTX BBN Technologies. Before joining Kairos Research, Dr. Summerville was an Associate Professor at Miami University (Oxford, OH). She is a Fellow of the Society for Experimental Social Psychology and the Midwestern Psychological Association. Dr. Summerville has served as a member of the editorial boards of several leading journals in social psychology, and as the 2019 Program co-chair and 2022 Convention Chair for the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. Her publications have been cited over 3000 times and have been featured by the New York Times Magazine, the BBC, and NPR. Dr. Summerville received her B.A. in Psychology, magna cum laude, from Amherst College, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Social Psychology, with a minor in Quantitative Psychology, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
