Evidence-Based Wound Management



Overview

This webinar series provides healthcare professionals across settings with a practical, evidence-based approach to wound assessment, classification, and management. The curriculum integrates the medical, surgical, and rehabilitative perspectives of wound care, emphasizing collaboration across disciplines to optimize patient outcomes. 

Participants will have increased knowledge of wound care management inclusive of evidence-based assessments, advanced treatment strategies, managing complications, integration of functional rehabilitation, documentation standards, and analysis of the impact to clinical and financial outcomes.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Examine how to accurately assess and classify various wound types using standardized terminology

  2. Identify underlying etiologies and comorbidities influencing wound healing

  3. Explore appropriate wound dressings and adjunctive modalities

  4. Develop interdisciplinary treatment plans integrating medical, nursing, and rehabilitative strategies

Each webinar is 60 minutes in length and registration includes access to on-demand content.

Speaker

 

Kimberly Pennington, PT, CWS, CLT, CPP is a highly accomplished Physical Therapist, Board-Certified Wound Specialist, Certified Lymphedema Therapist, and Certified PEMF Provider. She is the Founder and President of Optimal Wound Solutions, established in 2016 to deliver advanced, evidence-based wound care and rehabilitation services with a patient-centered approach.

With extensive clinical expertise in wound management, lymphedema therapy, regenerative modalities, and rehabilitative medicine, Kimberly has dedicated her career to improving outcomes for complex and chronic conditions. Her work emphasizes comprehensive assessment, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative therapeutic strategies designed to accelerate healing and restore function.

In addition to clinical practice, Kimberly has served in executive and leadership roles, including Regional Vice President positions, and has provided clinical education services in collaboration with professional healthcare organizations. She is passionate about advancing professional standards through continuing education and has developed CEU-level wound management programs for nurses, physicians, and rehabilitation professionals. Kimberly’s approach integrates science, compassion, and innovation.

Through Optimal Wound Solutions, she delivers advanced wound care, lymphedema management, Pulsed Electromagnetic Frequency (PEMF) therapy, and rehabilitative services designed to support healing across care settings — including acute, in patient, home-based and outpatient models as well as Telehealth. . As a healthcare entrepreneur, educator, and clinician, Kimberly is committed to elevating patient care, mentoring healthcare professionals, and expanding access to advanced wound and rehabilitation services. Continuing Education
